The Research Associate I will play a significant role in purification of protein biologics, and report to the Purification Group Leader. Core responsibilities include maintaining and operating chromatography instrumentation, conducting hands-on research for development of new techniques, and supporting ongoing protein purification activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for scientific innovation, excellent technical skills, execute their responsibilities with high attention to detail, and work well within a team dynamic in a high-performance culture.
Develop and execute techniques to extract and purify protein biologics from SoluPro, AbSci’s proprietary E. coli expression platform
Perform regular maintenance and operation of sophisticated chromatography instrumentation
Assess purification process and product quality via standard analytical techniques, including UV-Vis and fluorescence protein quantitation protocols, HPLC/UPLC-based methods, and protein electrophoresis
Record, analyze, interpret and communicate test results in an effective manner
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
BS or MS degree in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline with 1-4 years of directly relevant post-graduate research experience, preferably in an industry setting
Expertise in SDS-PAGE and Western Blotting
Experience with a diverse range of preparative and analytical chromatographic techniques, such as affinity, sizing, ion exchange, and reversed phase chromatography
Familiarity with FPLC instrumentation, such as AKTA systems is preferred
Familiarity with HPLC/UPLC instruments, such as Agilent systems, and/or Waters systems as well as accompanying software is preferred
Demonstrated interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
