Senior Scientist, Protein Purification - AbSci

Job Summary: 

 The Senior Scientist will play a significant role developing scalable downstream processes for purification of biologic proteins, reporting to the Group Leader, Purification. The candidate will be able to work with limited guidance to develop scalable, downstream protein purification processes in collaboration with industry partners. The Senior Scientist will exhibit a strong sense of ownership, work well within a team dynamic in a high-performance culture, and adapt to ever-changing opportunities.


  • Develop robust, high-yield, and scalable purification processes and prepare for tech transfer to partners
  • Implement high-throughput purification development strategies
  • Capitalize on unique advantages of the SoluPro host strain to develop novel purification strategies
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior team members
  • This position may include supervisory responsibilities


  • PhD in Life Sciences or related scientific discipline with 4+ years of industry experience in process development
  • Expertise in developing scalable, downstream purification processes for biologics
  • Extensive experience using standard analytical techniques to assess process purity, performance, and clearance of product-related impurities
  • Applied knowledge of recombinant protein folding and general protein biochemistry
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods for DOE design and data analysis
  • Experience with high-throughput workflows and complex data sets
  • Familiarity with operation of lab automation equipment (i.e. Tecan, Hamilton, and/or other liquid handling systems) is a plus
  • Analytical, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and ability to multi-task
